# MonoDesk Research

Know the business before you meet them. Research gives freelance creatives and small teams a written report on a business, its market and its competitors, from a name and a link.

## Start a report
- Add a business name and at least one link: their website, socials, LinkedIn or recent press.
- Research a new lead, an existing client or one of a client's competitors.
- Add an optional research focus for anything the report should cover.

## Check the sources
MonoDesk finds the business's website pages, socials, listings and press, then asks you to confirm them. Remove anything that is not the right business and add links it missed. Research then runs in the background and usually takes 3 to 5 minutes. MonoDesk lets you know when the report is ready.

## What the report covers
- A headline finding and a snapshot of key figures, such as locations, followers, reviews and pricing.
- What the business offers, who it serves, and its brand and visual identity, including colours.
- Market position, with a competitor comparison and a timeline of recent moves.
- Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, plus cautions and signals worth raising.
- Numbered citations that link to the sources used.

## Work with the report
Edit the report inline or with your Co-Worker, export it, or re-run the research. Set up a meeting with the business from the report, create a client from it, or attach it to an existing client.
